The Mercedes SLS is capable of a mere 197mph, but its gullwing doors alone warrant it a place on this list. Its 6.2-litre V8 is available in loads of AMG cars, but here it develops a spectacular 563bhp. 
Despite looking every inch the finished car, the McLaren MP4-12C zooming up the Goodwood hill was a 'VR9 prototype'. Technically then, we still haven't seen the 200mph production car. 
The MP4-12C's nemesis is the sublime Ferrari 458 Italia, the Prancing Horse's V8 junior supercar with a 3.4-second 0-62mph time and a 202mph top speed. Not bad for an entry-level model. 
The 202mph Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera is the ultimate junior Lambo, made with lots of carbon fibre and powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine. Goodwood was its UK debut. 
At £300,000 each you'd be forgiven for thinking Lexus was asking too much for the 203mph LFA. Not so, because all 500 have already sold. The 552bhp V10 revs so fast that it needs a digital rev counter to keep up. 
Its 187mph top speed makes it one of the slowest supercars on sale, but new Saab owner Spyker's C8 Aileron is easily one of the flashiest. Goodwood was the Aileron's UK debut. It will cost around £170,000. 
The Caparo T1 caused a sensation when it was launched in 2006. It has around twice the power-to-weight ratio of a Bugatti Veyron. 
202mph with the roof down is a possibility in the new Continental Supersports Convertible. And you needn't worry about wind noise drowning out your music either, as it has the world's most powerful in-car amplifier, rated 2,200 Watts. 
The Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible isn't the fastest drop top in the world - that title goes to the 225mph Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. Don't raise your arms at that speed, whatever you do. 
The next BMW M5 isn't due until 2011 at the earliest, but it's still unlikely to be as fast as the 191mph Alpina B5 Biturbo. The four-door executive saloon has a 500bhp twin-turbo V8, but returns a respectable 26.1mpg.
The 186mph Alfa TZ3 Zagato was built to celebrate Alfa Romeo's racing heritage, commissioned by a collector because he thought it would be a good idea. He was right.
Another member of the 200mph-plus club, the Reventón was inspired by stealth aircraft and only 20 were made, each costing more than £1,000,000. It will actually hit 211mph thanks to its 6.5-litre V12.

Seeing (and hearing) an F1 car zooming up the Goodwood hill is something special. McLaren was one of six F1 teams that took cars to the Festival of Speed, including Red Bull and Ferrari.
The ultimate Aston is almost ready for delivery to the 77 lucky fat cats that put up the £1,200,000 required (though some reports put the price higher). Expect it to join the 200mph club courtesy of 700bhp. 
The quickest road-going Ferrari ever, the 599 GTO is based on the 599XX that pummelled the Nissan GT-R's Nürburgring time - posting a 6:58 lap. It costs £300,000 and will hit 208mph. 
Porsche's fastest ever road car made its world debut at Goodwood. The GT2 RS is due in September and with more than 600bhp going to the rear wheels; it's capable of 205mph.
